Rahu: facing new experiences not yet mastered
Rahu is the ascending node, symbolizing attraction toward and amplification of areas not yet mastered. How do unfamiliarity, desire and learning interact?

First distinguish astronomical positions from interpretation
Rahu is the ascending intersection of the Moon's orbit with the ecliptic; Ketu is the opposite descending node. The nine grahas comprise these two orbital nodes, the Sun and Moon, and the five naked-eye planets.
In this library’s interpretive framework, the two points form an axis of experience: Rahu highlights unfamiliar territory, while Ketu prompts a reassessment of familiar experience. Their placements develop the specific themes.
Astronomical identity and traditional references
Rahu is the ascending intersection of the Moon's orbit with the ecliptic. Readings consider its sign ruler, house and relevant connections to explore the unfamiliar territory being entered.

Why desire, unfamiliarity and loss of control converge
A person may be eager to enter a new field while still lacking experience and perspective. Heightened expectations can encourage exploration, but may also lead them to overlook real costs or rely too heavily on external approval.
A hypothetical scenario: someone develops a strong interest in an unfamiliar industry and commits to learning. If drawn only to success stories without understanding the work itself, expectations can outpace preparation. Rahu’s symbolism offers a perspective on this distinction.
Follow the sign ruler and its connections to understand the outcome
No single fixed table of rulership, exaltation and debilitation is adopted here for Rahu. Begin with its sign ruler, companions in the same sign and actual connections, which influence how this tendency enters life.
In the relevant Raja Yoga method, the nodes can also participate through angular or trinal placement and connections with the corresponding house rulers. Support comes from these actual relationships.
Why an eighteen-year major period needs subdivisions
Rahu's standard major period lasts 18 years, while subperiods, life circumstances and age continue to change. How unfamiliar experiences enter life must be explained through these stages.
Unfamiliar territory may involve work, relationships or living environments. Rahu’s placement, its sign lord and changes across periods help clarify what needs to be learned, what support is available, and the gap between expectations and actual preparation.
