Why read Sun and Moon Yogas separately?
Use the Sun or Moon as a reference to understand planetary combinations on either side and the conditions that modify them.

Different reference points for the Sun and Moon
Sun Yogas generally concern active initiative, while Moon Yogas focus more on reception, response, and support in life. The corresponding combinations use the Sun or Moon as their reference point.
When you see a similar arrangement in the adjacent houses before and after a planet, first confirm which planet is at the center, which planets participate and whether the nodes are included.
Formation, cancellation and mitigation conditions
Vosi, Vesi and Ubhayachari examine the distribution of the five planets on either side of the Sun; Anapha, Sunapha and Durudhara examine those on either side of the Moon. Once a combination forms, its effects are interpreted in light of interference, cancellation and numerical conditions.
For Kemadruma, for example, first examine the absence of planets on either side of the Moon, then check for cancellation or mitigating factors. The original distribution and subsequent support together explain how it operates.
Action, support and preparation
A closer reading can explore how a person acts, receives support and prepares for opportunities. Different combinations draw attention to different parts of this process.
