How does the distribution of the seven classical planets affect the whole chart reading?

How the seven classical planets are distributed across four perspectives: number, quality, angular houses, and shape.

Signs occupied by the seven classical planets

The seven-planet distributions in this library use the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. Number-based patterns first count the signs they occupy; shape-based patterns then examine how those positions are arranged.

Overall distribution offers a whole-chart perspective, while an individual house describes a particular area of life. The same distribution can involve different house rulers and planetary conditions, so their individual roles still require close reading.

Observing four distribution categories

Sankhya considers the number of occupied signs; Asraya considers the qualities of the signs; Dala compares benefics and malefics in angular houses; Akriti considers specific patterns of distribution. Each of these four approaches has its own conditions.

If software reports a combination, check exactly which conditions it satisfies and whether modifications or restrictions apply.

Overall distribution and specific questions

An overall reading first identifies characteristics formed by several planets together, then follows the relevant planets for a specific question. It works best alongside house rulership, planetary condition, and timing.

As a beginner, first plot the seven visible planets, then check one established rule. This builds understanding more easily than memorizing many names at once.
