Natal chart, dashas and transits: how do the three timing layers work?
What natal charts, dashas and transits each reveal, and how they work together in timing assessments.

The natal chart preserves the structure at birth
The natal chart uses positions and relationships calculated for the time and place of birth. It provides the foundation for this personal reading, with later periods and transits examined against the same data.
The same structure may appear differently in different life circumstances. Personal choices and environment must be part of the interpretation.
Major periods and transits have different roles
Major periods organize time into stages, while transits record the sky at the moment being studied. They indicate, respectively, what is currently emphasized and what background conditions and triggers are present.
When comparing transits across systems, check the zodiac and reference points as well. Planetary positions bearing the same label may use different coordinates.
Connect factors around a specific question
For relocation, the natal chart provides conditions relating to residence and living arrangements, the dasha indicates which matters stand out during that phase, and transits add context for the time being studied. Following the same subject across these layers connects long-term conditions, changes by phase, and short-term triggers.
