D60: Fine divisions and birth-time accuracy

How half-degree divisions, positional boundaries and birth-time uncertainty affect D60 readings.

In this article

First understand the effects of narrow divisions

D60 divides 30° into sixty half-degree sections. These divisions are very fine, so when an important position lies near a boundary, differences in birth time or calculation method can more easily change its placement.

If the birth record gives only an approximate time, compare several results within its margin of uncertainty to distinguish stable placements from details that still vary.

Changes in position and speed of motion

The ascendant’s speed varies with location and time. The same few minutes may cross different numbers of divisions in different charts; actual transition times must be calculated from the specific birth details.

The Moon and Ascendant move at different speeds. Their proximity to boundaries determines which is more affected by a time error.

Separate stable and uncertain elements

First confirm the D60 algorithm and inputs, then check whether the relevant factors remain stable. If key placements change within a reasonable margin of error, that uncertainty needs to remain part of the interpretation.

This site calculates from the birth time you provide. Birth-time rectification is not currently offered as a public service. If the time is uncertain, stable portions are retained and affected details are explained.
