Planetary aspects and sign aspects
Indian astrology commonly uses planetary aspects and sign aspects. Before reading a connecting line, identify which rule it uses, then which planets or signs it connects.
Some systems judge aspects by degrees and orbs; others use signs or relative house distances. When comparing two charts, the rules used directly determine which connecting lines appear.
The responsibilities at each end of a connection
Aspects connect two planets or two signs. In a career discussion, the two ends of a connection may concern personal abilities, professional conditions or gains, bringing different forms of support and pressure. For example, one way of forming Raja Yoga requires a full mutual planetary aspect between an angular house lord and a trinal house lord, specifying both the participants' roles and the degree of connection.
How an aspect works
Interpreting an aspect involves three parts: which planet casts it, which rules establish it and which area of life it affects. Only after clarifying the roles at both ends can its effects be assessed.
